Thank you for your interest in the Turning Point Century. This ride is presented by Adirondack Ultra Cycling and is part of the ADIRONDACK ULTRA CHALLENGE.

This ride starts promptly at the ADIRONDACK ULTRA CYCLING BIKE SHOP, located at: 160 Broad Street, Schuylerville, NY. Broad Street is the main street in Schuylerville and is also US 4, NY 29 and NY 32. The shop is located on the east side of the road, about halfway between the two traffic lights. Please arrive early enough to give yourself time to park, check in and get ready, so that we may start on time. If this ride has a time limit and/or recorded time, please note that times are recorded "door to door," with all rest stops, mechanical stops, delays, etc., included in your official finish time. The official event clock begins at the advertised start time, whether or not you are actually riding, and all finishing times are recorded when a rider checks in with the official time keeper. If a rider dawdles at their car or changes or packs up before checking in, their time will reflect that, just as if you took a break in the middle of the ride.

This ride meets and leaves from the backyard of the shop. To access the backyard, please use Beagle Lane, which is off Saratoga Street, which is off Broad Street. Please note that there is no parking in the backyard or on Beagle Lane and the shop does not have a parking lot. There is ample parking on the streets in front of and on the side of the shop, but please make sure not to use another business' parking lot, whether or not they are open, or block anyone's driveway or the street itself, as your car may be ticketed or towed if you do. For additional parking, you may also use the parking lot at Fort Hardy Park. The shop will be open before and after the ride, in case you need anything or forgot something, and if you would like your bike serviced (or assembled if you are travelling to the start) before this ride, please CONTACT US as soon as possible to schedule your work.

This ride is a rolling modified out and back that travels past the Saratoga Monument, through the Saratoga National Historical Park and to the Bennington Monument in Bennington, VT. This ride celebrates the Battles of Saratoga and Bennington that took place in 1777 and are widely acknowledged to be the turning point of the revolutionary war. Please note that there will be 5-6 miles of hard packed dirt roads and bike trails on this ride, but standard road bikes with 23/25/28 tires will not have any problem.

RIDE NOTES

• Pre-registration is required for this event and same day/on-site registration will not be available.

• Motorized bicycles of any kind, including all types of e-bikes are prohibited from our events.

• Pets are prohibited from our events.

• Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and all children must ride their own bicycle. No children in trailers, tag-a-longs or child carriers will be allowed.

• Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before the start time to check in, get ready and have your bike inspected, so we may leave on time. If this ride has a time limit and/or recorded time, please note that the clock starts at the official start time, whether or not you are actually riding.

• All participants must arrive with a bicycle in good working condition, a certified helmet to be worn at all times while on the bike and at a minimum: a water bottle(s), spare tube(s), tire levers and an inflation device. If this ride involves night riding, all participants must meet our night riding requirements.

• This ride will be unsupported on the road but snacks, pocket food and drinks will be provided at the start, middle (if returning to the shop) and finish. Riders should expect to be self-sufficient and have the ability to follow GPS directions and/or a cue sheet and use convenience stores to resupply along the route. Emergency SAG will be available in extreme situations, but please note we do not consider a flat tire an extreme situation. ADIRONDACK ULTRA CYCLING GENERAL INFORMATION FOR RIDES

  • REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

    • ALL RIDERS MUST PRE-REGISTER VIA BIKEREG.
    The deadline to register will generally be the night before the start of the event, unless otherwise stated. Please refer to each event's ride info summary or visit BIKEREG for exact details.

    • SAME DAY REGISTRATION IS NOT AVAILABLE & PARTICIPATION IS LIMITED.
    Same day registration will not be available and each of our events will have a field limit. Once that limit is reached, no further entries will be accepted. Please refer to each event's ride info summary or visit BIKEREG for exact details.

    • MOTORIZED BICYCLES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO E-BIKES AND PEDAL ASSIST BICYCLES ARE PROHIBITED FROM OUR EVENTS.
    Due to insurance requirements, motorized bicycles are not permitted on our rides. This includes all types of e-bikes and pedal assist bikes. Riders that arrive with a motorized bicycle will not be permitted to participate in our events and will be asked to leave immediately and no refund or credit will be issued.

    • PETS ARE PROHIBITED FROM OUR EVENTS.
    Due to insurance requirements, pets are not permitted on our rides or on our ride premises by any associated person attending our events. This includes riders, volunteers, friends, family, spectators, etc. Anyone arriving with a pet will not be permitted to participate in our events and will be asked to leave immediately and no refund or credit will be issued. ADA certified service animals will be permitted in areas where the general public is permitted, according to ADA regulations. If arriving with an ADA certified service animal, please have its ADA identification vest on at all times and its certification papers ready for inspection.

  • LIGHT REQUIREMENTS FOR NIGHT RIDES:

    • Lights and reflective gear must be used from dusk to dawn and are highly recommended for daytime use as well. Riders caught on the road after dark without lights will be immediately disqualified and pulled from the course.

    • One 600 lumen minimum steady white light, attached to the bicycle must be used in the front. Please note that helmet mounted lights are not acceptable to meet our minimum requirements, but may be used as a second supplemental light.

    • Two 50 lumen minimum red lights, both attached to the bicycle (or a bag/rack attached to the bicycle) must be used in the rear. One is to be set to flashing, the other to steady.

    • A reflective sash, vest or jacket on the upper body must be used. If a backpack is used, it must be reflective, have a reflective cover or not obscure the reflective sash, vest or jacket in any way. Reflective ankle bands/legwear/footwear must also be used.

    OTHER LIGHTING NOTES:

      • Additional lighting and reflective gear is highly recommended and flashing lights, both front and rear, are also highly recommended for daytime use.

      • Make sure you have enough battery power to get through the entire ride, which varies between 2-40 hours.

      • Our lighting requirements supersede all other sanctioning organization's requirements.

      • If you have any questions about our lighting requirements, please CONTACT US before you register for any of our night rides, especially if you have any issues with flashing lights, as we do not make exceptions to our requirements and no refund will be given for lighting issues.

  • All of our events start promptly and most leave from the ADIRONDACK ULTRA CYCLING BIKE SHOP. Refer to each event for its exact starting location and time. Please arrive at least a half hour before the start time to check in, get ready, receive last minute instructions and have your bike inspected. When arriving and departing, please be courteous, especially if it is early in the morning or late at night, as our starting locations are typically in mixed residential/business neighborhoods. Please do not park in another business' lot or block a driveway or the street itself, otherwise your vehicle may be towed.   • Ride times are recorded "door to door," with all rest stops, mechanical stops, delays, etc., included in your official finish time.   • Unless otherwise stated, our rides do not have an "official" time limit, but dusk is our "soft" time limit for rides that do not involve night riding. Most riders should finish well before the sun sets, but if anyone is still riding after dark and they are coherent, riding in a safe manner, properly prepared and meet our lighting requirements, they will be allowed to continue. However, if they are not coherent and/or not riding in a safe manner and/or not properly prepared and/or do not meet our lighting requirements, they will immediately be pulled from the course.
  • Drafting is allowed in all of our events and group riding is encouraged.
  • Helmets must be worn at all times while cycling.
  • All traffic laws, signals, signs, devices, etc., must be obeyed at all times.
  • All turns, stops, slow downs, etc., must be signaled and/or called out to other riders and other traffic.
  • Always ride with traffic, ride defensively and be aware of your surroundings. Watch out for other traffic and never assume another vehicle will stop or yield, even if you have the right of way.
  • Riders must get completely off the road when stopped.
  • Ride no more then 2 abreast and only when traffic permits, and you must single up when traffic approaches from the rear.
  • Keep as far to the right as safety permits and if there is a rideable shoulder or bike lane you must use it.
  • Most of our routes are unmarked. Be prepared to navigate on your own and follow a cue sheet and/or GPS device. If relying on an electronic device for navigation, please make sure you have enough battery power for the entire ride, and be aware that in cold conditions and areas where there is low reception, batteries may drain at a faster then normal rate.

  • Drug testing using WADA guidelines may be performed on any entrant up to 30 days before or after the event they have registered for. In addition, any rider under suspension by any sports governing body is prohibited from entering our events.
